Coming Soon: Kotobukiya Magneto ArtFx Marvel Now Statue

Kotobukiya has finally unveiled the second of their set of Art FX statues of the Marvel Now X-Men. This second statue is a version of the Magneto, that was introduced in his excellent solo series which just ended.  This statue is beautiful.  I would be performing a disservice to the X-Men in general if I didn't snatch this guy up as a pre-order (I ordered it from Big Bad Toy Store).

If you haven't read this book, you can check out my video summarizing the first seven issues below.

Coming Soon: Kotobukiya Art FX Cyclops Marvel Now Statue

>

Kotobukiya has finally unveiled the first of their set of Art FX statues of the Marvel Now X-Men.  The first is the best of the mutant designs, Cyclops with the x visor.  I love this design and have wanted somebody to make a statue of this since I first saw it.  Unfortunately, since it falls under the Art Fx Plus category, it's only 1/10th scale, and thus is out of scale with Bowen  and Koto Danger Room Sessions statues, so it likely won't work in my collection.  The entire set might work though, so I'll consider it.  Either way, if Koto wants to send me a sample, I would be happy to review it on the X-Lair!

Coming Soon: Jubilee Bishoujo Statue by Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya has gone X-crazy with their latest new reveals.  This newest offering is everybody's favorite 90's X-ingenue Jubilation Lee.  I have to admit I kinda like it.  I like the entire Bishoujo line but they're a bit too small for my collecting tastes.  Given that no other company has had the cajones to make a statue of Miss Lee, I may actually take the plunge and get this one.  We shall see.

Coming Soon: Wolverine - Brown Costume - Danger Room Sessions Statue by Kotobukiya

It looks like Kotobukiya finally answered the very loud grunts of fans that have been clamoring for this statue to be released.  Although it's slightly different than the statue that was originally sneaked a few years ago, it's got a certain appeal that can't be denied.  For me it has a Sam Keith-esque quality to it that might make it a buy.  It won't be out until next year though so I have plenty of time to deliberate.

Coming Soon: Psylocke - X-force Statue by Kotobukiya - Episode II - Attack of the Psyblade

This is the second post featuring the forthcoming Kotobukiya X-force Psylocke statue.  The first post was part of the SDCC 2013 recap week featuring photos of the statue from the sample displayed on the con floor.  Fortunately Koto has recently revealed some glam shots of the statue which give a better glimpse of how cool this statue is.  She's up for pre-order for those wanting to get an early hold on her.

Coming Soon: Juggernaut Staue by Kotobukiya

This is the final post featuring cool stuff that was revealed this last weekend at San Diego Comic Con 2013.  Kotobukiya surprised us all by revealing their very own Juggernaut statue sculpted by Eric Sosa.

Coming Soon: Psylocke - X-force Statue by Kotobukiya

This is the second post featuring cool stuff that was revealed this last weekend at San Diego Comic Con 2013.  Today I'm taking a look at the forthcoming X-force Psylocke statue that was displayed at the Kotobukiya booth (because they're producing it, unless that wasn't clear:P).

Coming Soon: X-force Psylocke Bishoujo Statue

I introduced the Bishoujo line with the "Beyond My Collection" post of the Jean Grey Bishoujo statue. As I mentioned then there are a variety of statues in this line which I'll be covering in more posts in the future.  This post focuses on the newest offering by Kotobukiya in this line.  It's the Bishoujo statue  of X-force Psylocke.

Beyond My Collection: Jean Grey Bishoujo Statue by Kotobukiya

What does Bishoujo mean?  I'm sure that is your first question, since it was mine as well when I first heard it.  Here's the definition:

Bishoujo - (Japanese) beautiful young girl.

Apparently that is all this word means.  It does not refer to a specific genre or set of stories.  Instead it simply seems to be a style directly linked to the various beautiful looking young (under college age) girls that have appeared in Manga/Anime (Japanese animation).

Kotobukiya, a Japanese company that has both a Marvel and a DC license, got the clever idea to take the female characters from these companies and turn them into Bishoujos.  As of now there is a whole set of these that have been produced (ie Phoenix, Psylocke, Rogue, etc.). I have decided not to collect them though since doing so would take my collecting trajectory in a new direction.

The first statue in the Bishoujo line I thought I would feature is the Jean Grey statue that was released in 2011.
