That Would Make A Great... "X-men: The End" Edition

I finally read the 2005-2006, 3 book (18 issue) miniseries X-men: The End.  It was written by one of the central X-men storytellers of the last 20+ years, Chris Claremont.  It tells the tale of the X-men (the version of the team in the early 2000s) 15 years in the future in which all sorts of mind-blowing events take place.  I won't go too far into the details, but its safe to say that if you haven't read it, you're in for a roller coaster ride of X-madness!

Of course there was quite a bit of eye candy and interesting character designs that would serve as great inspiration for some fantastic statues.  The following are just a few images that I gleaned from the various issues which were standout candidates.  It goes without saying that there was way more potential than what you see here in those fantastic books.

I like the Cyclops designs in these books.  I think it would look great as either a museum pose statue, or an action pose statue.  I especially like the "X" designs on the gloves and boots.

Wolverine has an interesting design in these books.  I like the use of the yellow and brown colors in a completely different design than we've seen.  Yet, it still feels like a Wolverine costume.

The image above would make an interesting diorama with Storm.

Storm as always looks great.  It seems as though no matter what costume is designed for her, she always winds up looking beautiful.  As far as this costume goes, there are a lot of intricate designs on the costume that I think would look great with some gold metallic paint.  A museum pose statue of this next image would also work nicely,

Nightcrawler is one charter that needs more statue love.  He actually has a very cool design in these comics.  It harkens back to his orignal design nicely while updating it in interesting ways.  I think this image would be a great reference for a statue.

Psylocke is always a great character to have sculpted into three dimensions.  I like how simple the design is for her in these books, while still remaining sexy and X-centric.  This image would certainly translate nicely into a cool statue.

I'm always up for more Cable.  He's got such a great look and generally gets really cool character design updates.  His design in these books are no different.  I think this next image would make a great action pose Cable statue, with a different, more confident look on his face though.

I think my favorite story arc in this series was the one involving Gambit.  I won't go into too many details, but the following image echoes some of key elements of his treatment.  I think a statue of Gambit as Sinister would be mindblowingly awesome!!!

One X-villain that has not received any love yet from the statue gods is Deathbird.  In fact most of the Shi'ar characters need statues.  Their designs are so interesting and would all make great pieces.  The following image would be a great inspiration of a Deathbird statue.

Finally, there's Cassandra Nova.  For some reason this character scares me.  It might just be that fact that she's essentially Xavier in female form which is disturbing.  It might be the horrible acts she committed through Grant Morrison's run.  Regardless of what it is, I can't deny that she has emerged as a villain to be reckoned with in the X-verse.
There are two versions of Cassandra that standout as interesting with good statue inspirational potential.  The first can be referenced from this image of Cassandra as the Phoenix.

The second is actually a really interesting design for Xavier (possessed by Cassandra).  I think interesting statues of Xavier that are completely unconventional would be a welcome addition to any X-fan's collection.  These images demonstrate that potential.

Again, this was a great series.  If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.  As far as the potential for any of these statues to ever be created, I think the chances are slim.  Still, there's always customizing :)
